Juvmo is the first selective D1/D5 dopamine agonist, a once-daily pill approved alone or with levodopa. Older agonists hit D2/D3. In TEMPO-3, it added 1.7 hours of good "on" time without troublesome dyskinesia versus 0.6 hours on placebo. In early disease, 94% had not started levodopa by week 85. Common side effects: nausea, headache, dizziness, fatigue and taste change. US launch is expected in October.
Why it matters
A new receptor target is rare in Parkinson's. Delaying levodopa matters to the active, younger patients longevity practices see. Refer to neurology for the decision, and know the name when patients bring it in.
