Viome has acquired Sōlaria Biō, which uses AI to screen a biobank of more than 5,700 plant-derived microbes. Its first product, Bōndia, is a pre- and probiotic aimed at the gut-bone axis in adults over 35, especially women approaching menopause. A second candidate for rheumatoid arthritis and healthy aging is in clinical development. Terms were not disclosed. It follows Viome's purchase of Circulate Health.

Why it matters

The microbiome companies are building test-to-treat stacks, where the test sells the product. Hold the products to the same standard as a drug: ask for the trial, the endpoint and the population before you recommend one.
